SAN ANTONIO, TX – The SUNY Polytechnic Men’s Basketball Team touched down in San Antonio, Texas late Wednesday evening to get ready for the Trinity University Invitational. With a day off before their first contest the team was able to visit local landmarks, including making a trip to the Alamo (pictured at right).
SAN ANTONIO – Timing is everything, for good and bad. The Southwestern University Pirates (2-4) entered Friday’s contest with the Wildcats (2-7) averaging just about 60 points-per-game as a team, with no player averaging more than single-digit point totals per game. But that team bore little resemblance to the Pirate team that took the floor Friday night against the Wildcats as part of the Trinity Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.

The Pioneers tied the game late in regulation on a pair of free throws, then survived overtime despite 7 points from senior Wildcat point guard Maverick Hodge (Bronx, N.Y. / Samuel Gompers), who finished the game with a career-high 33 points.
