Wildcat Trio Leads Team to Victory

ABINGTON, P.A. – The SUNY Poly men's basketball team (7-12, 6-5 NEAC) beat Penn St.-Abington (7-12, 6-6 NEAC) on the road Saturday afternoon. The team relied on three starters to win 72-59.

Ryan McCarthy (Camden, N.Y. / Camden), Maverick Hodge (Bronx, N.Y. / Samuel Gompers), and Micheal Boyea (Chateaugay, N.Y. / Chateaugay) led the team with 18, 16, and 14 points respectively. They also combined to pull down 22 rebounds and dish out 8 assists with Hodge leading in both categories.

The Wildcats found themselves down in the first half up until there was just under four minutes to play until half time. Blake Haga (Rome, N.Y. / RFA) scored a big three to put SUNY Poly up for the rest of the game. McCarthy was in control of the half putting up 12 points and going perfect at the line.

Hodge took over in the second half to help his team maintain control for the rest of the game. He scored 10 of his 16 points and added 3 assists.

David Perez (Bronx, N.Y. / Bronx Ctr. for Science & Math) was a big help for the Wildcats with 10 rebounds, 8 defensive, and 8 points. The rest of SUNY Poly's 16 points were scored off the bench from four different players.

The Wildcats return to action tomorrow at Bryn Athyn following the women with a start time of 2:00 pm.
