Mustangs Take Out Men’s Basketball in Conference Play, 66-57

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - Just like the women's game before them, the Morrisville State Men's Basketball Team (6-12, 3-8 NEAC) was able to use the free throw line against the Wildcats (6-12, 5-5 NEAC) in a 66-57 victory Tuesday night.

The Mustangs finished 19 for 28 (68%) compared with the Wildcats 6 of 12 (50%) from the charity stripe, helping them to grind out a relatively low-scoring affair.

Ibrahima Toure led the Mustangs with a game-high 16 points, making 6 of 13 from the field and grabbing 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

On the other side of the ball Kaleel Johnson (Syracuse, N.Y. / Syr. Acad. of Science) also recorded a double-double, scoring 10 points while grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.

SUNY Poly struggled from the field, as Michael Boyea (Chateaugay, N.Y. / Chateaugay) was the only starter to finish 50% or higher from the field, going 5 for 10 for 10 points.

One of the few bright spots for the Wildcats in defeat was the play of reserve forward David Perez (Bronx, N.Y. / Bronx Ctr. for Science & Math). Perez contributed solid play off the bench for the second game in a row, and finished with 8 points and 4 rebounds in just 12 minutes of play.

The Wildcats will look to get clear of a three-game losing streak on the road this weekend, as they travel to Penn State Abington for a 3:00 pm contest.
