Clutch Play Down the Stretch Leads Men’s Basketball to 56-52 Win Over Lions

BRYN ATHYN, N.Y. – Tied 48-48 with 2:47 to go in the game, the SUNY Poly Men's Basketball Team (8-12, 7-5 NEAC) made baskets and got defensive stops when they needed to, earning a 56-52 conference win.

Ryan McCarthy (Camden, N.Y. / Camden) and Blake Haga (Rome, N.Y. / RFA) combined to go 6-for-6 from the free throw line over the final 1:12 to help the Wildcats salt the game away.

SUNY Poly held a 33-14 lead at the half, but fell victim to a furious Bryn Athyn comeback in the second half to make it a game.

McCarthy led the Wildcats with 15 points, and tied for the team-high with 7 rebounds.

McCarthy was the only SUNY Poly player to register double-digit points. The Wildcats got contributions from almost their entire roster, however, as 9 different players scored in the game.

SUNY Poly will finish a four-game road swing at Cazenovia on Wednesday. Game time is slated for 7:00 pm.
