Men’s Basketball Comes Up Short Against Keuka

MARCY, N.Y. – The Wildcat Men's Basketball Team (10-14, 9-7 NEAC) lost a hard fought game against Keuka (14-8, 11-5 NEAC) Friday night. The late rally wasn't enough in a 70-67 decision against the Wolfpack.

Maverick Hodge (Bronx, N.Y. / Samuel Gompers) and Michael Boyea (Chateaugay, N.Y. / Chateaugay) were the stars for SUNY Poly playing the full 40 minutes and contributing 18 points apiece. Hodge also added seven assists and rebounds, leading his team in both.

The Wildcats fell behind early in the first half, victim to a 10-4 run by Keuka. They then put together a run of their own to tie the score at 14 with 10:22 left in the half. The rest of play saw back and forth scoring between the two teams ending with a layup from Boyea to end the half tied 31-31.

The two teams continued the same scoring pattern to start the second half until Keuka pulled away. The home team found themselves down by as many as 12. Like the first half, SUNY Poly battled their way back into the game when Boyea made a jumper to make the score 65-65 with 1:18 left. The teams tied again at 67 with 38 seconds on the clock. The Wildcats wouldn't score again as the Wolfpack got the final say.

Thomas Lucas (Buffalo, N.Y. / Tapestry) added 11 points while Ryan McCarthy (Camden, N.Y. / Camden) put up 10 of his own. Kaleel Johnson (Syracuse, N.Y. / Syr. Acad. of Science) and Tyler Taverne (Westmoreland, N.Y. / Westmoreland) rounded out the scoring with nine and one points, respectively.

The Men's Basketball Team returns to action today on their home court at 3:00 pm against Wells College.
