Men’s and Women’s Basketball to Take on Cobleskill Tonight in NEAC Action

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Polytechnic Men's and Women's Basketball Teams travel to SUNY Cobleskill tonight to take on the Fighting Tigers in NEAC Conference play. The women's game will take place at 5:00 pm with the men's game to follow at 7:00.

The SUNY Cobleskill women's team enters the contest at 1-6 overall with an 0-2 NEAC record after losses to Wells College and Keuka College. Sophomore Shelby Preston leads the team in both points (17.7 per game) and rebounds (15.6 per game). The Wildcats for their part come in at 4-5 overall and 2-0 in conference (having beaten both Wells and Keuka earlier in the year). SUNY Poly is led in scoring by Geena Gallo (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) at 14.4 ppg. Lauren Knowles (Salisbury Mills, N.Y. / Washingtonville) leads the team in rebounds with 8.7 per game. The Wildcats are coming off a tight 69-67 overtime win against Alfred State on January 8th.

Over on the men's side, the two teams enter tonight's contest with identical 2-8 records. The Fighting Tigers are 0-2 in conference play with losses to Keuka and Wells, while the Wildcats hold a 1-1 NEAC mark having split their games with Wells and Keuka (defeating Wells handily 84-58 while dropping an overtime game with Keuka 68-64).

The Fighting Tigers are coming off a win over Green Mountain College on January 11th, while the Wildcats have yet to play so far in the new year.
