Men’s Basketball Visits Lone Star State for Trinity Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The SUNY Polytechnic Men's Basketball Team touched down in San Antonio, Texas late Wednesday evening to get ready for the Trinity University Invitational. With a day off before their first contest the team was able to visit local landmarks, including making a trip to the Alamo (pictured at right).

The Wildcats will first take on the Pirates of Southwestern University on Friday at 4:00 pm EST. Southwestern University is located closer to Austin in Georgetown, Texas. They will finish with the tournament host Trinity University on Saturday at 6:00 pm EST.

SUNY Poly last traveled to Texas during the 2012-13 season for a similar tournament that featured the same two teams. That tournament was hosted by Southwestern – the Pirates defeated the Wildcats 73-61 that year.

The Pirates enter today's contest with a record of 1-4 on the young season. So far the team is struggling on offense, with no players averaging more than single-digit points per game. Defensively, however, the team is holding opponents to 42% shooting from the field and just about 70 points per game.
