MVB: Wildcats Fall to the Bison in Round Two of NEVC Playoffs.

Dudley, Mass - The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team was defeated by the top-seeded Nichols College Bison. The Wildcats fought hard, winning the second set, but it was not enough as the Bison would go on to win the match in four sets. The Wildcats end their season with a record of 12-16.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Majority of the first set was tightly contested, with both teams exchanging points off of well placed kills and solid defense. The Bison would start to pull away around midway through the set, behind a series of kills from multiple attackers. SUNY Poly continued to fight, but could not gain enough ground to mount a comeback, and would ultimately drop the first set 25-16.

The second set was an offensive showdown, with neither team breaking away from the other. Precise attacks from James Mion, Jason Aubrey and Peter Gottler kept the Wildcats on pace with the top-ranked Bison. In a very back-and-forth set, SUNY Poly maintained their composure, leading to a 25-22 set victory.

SUNY Poly struggled to find some offense in the next two sets, as the Bison began to find a rhythm. Gritty efforts from seniors James Mion and Jordan Weir kept the Wildcats hopes alive, but the Bison proved to be too much, as they would win both of the next two sets by a score of 25-12.
