MVB: Wildcats Sweep Bard on Senior Day

Utica, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team secured a 3-0 victory against the Bard College Raptors on senior day. Seniors James Mion and Jordan Weir led the Wildcats, combining for 20 kills on 29 attacks. The win lifts the Wildcats to 13-14 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The first set was a tightly contested battle, with Bard taking an early 2-0 lead. SUNY Poly responded strongly, behind a string of successful serves from Joshua Slater. Despite Bard's effort to maintain a lead, first set performances from Jason Aubrey and James Mion were too much for the Raptors to handle. Wildcats would win the set 25-18

The Wildcats maintained pressure in the second, totaling 16 kills on 30 attempts. On the flip side, the Raptors struggled to put points on the board, only registering seven kills in the entire set. Behind strong second set performances from Jordan Weir and Peter Gottler, the Wildcats would go on to win the set 25-15.

The third set was close, that was until the Wildcats put together an impressive stretch of four straight kills topped with a service ace from Gottler. SUNY Poly would ride that momentum, closing out the set 25-20, thanks to a powerful kill from senior Ethan Davis

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

Senior James Mion picked up 11 kills while also pushing his school record of solo blocks to 68.

Joshua Slater tallied 36 assists as well as seven digs.

Thomas McNulty led the Wildcats with 10 digs.
