MVB: Wildcats Top The Gators in Three Sets

Utica, N.Y. - The Suny Poly men's volleyball team came away with a 3-0 match victory against the Russell Sage College Gators.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

The first set started with a powerful kill by Jason Aubrey, which set the tone for the rest of the set. Sage battled hard, but the Wildcats maintained control throughout the entirety of the set, with players like Brendan Palmer, Joshua Slater and Peter Gottler all recording a service ace. The Wildcats would win the set 25-18.

The second set was a tight one, with both teams showcasing their offensive skills. The Gators held a slight lead early, but the Wildcats did not fall too far behind with crucial kills coming from Aubrey and Slater. The Wildcats gained momentum late in the set, leading to a 25-19 win. 

Up 2-0 in sets, the Wildcats hard work carried into the third set. The Wildcats gained a substantial lead quickly and did not look back. Behind strong third set performances from Peter Gottler and Jordan Weir, the Wildcats were able to cruise to a 25-13 set victory. 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

Jason Aubrey led the Wildcats with 9 kills. 

Joshua Slater tallied a game high 28 assists. 

Thomas McNulty registered 6 digs. 


UP NEXT: The Wildcats will be hitting the road for a matchup against the Eastern Nazarene College Lions. That match is scheduled for March 15th at 6:00 PM.
