MVB: Wildcats Pick Up Win Against Carlow in Tri-Match.

Erie, Pa. -  The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team picked up a victory against Carlow before dropping a match to Penn St.-Behrend on Sunday afternoon. In the first match, the Wildcats won the match 3-1. In the second match, the Wildcats lost in straight sets 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED: After competing in a tri-match on Saturday, the Wildcats were back for another tri-match on Sunday to complete a busy weekend. Despite the two matches the day before, the Wildcats came out with energy and ready to play as they won the first set 25-21. In the second set, the Wildcats had a lead late but were unable to hold onto it as Carlow won four of the last five points to win the set. With the match being tied 1-1, the Wildcats won the third set by an impressive 7 points to regain the lead. With a chance to win the match in the last set, the Wildcats took an early lead and would use a 4-point run in towards the end of the set to win the set 25-22, and the match 3-1.

In the second match against Penn St.-Behrend, the first set was close until Penn St.-Behrend went on a 5-point run to extend their lead and win the first set 25-19. In the second set, the Wildcats showed fight after being down 16-10, rallying to win the next 6 points to tie the set at 16-16. It wouldn't be enough, however, as Penn St.-Behrend would win the set 25-22. The Wildcats once again showed their toughness in the final set, leading for most of the set and forcing extra points, before falling 27-25 to lost the set and the match.
