MVB: Wildcats Roll Past Lakers In Four Sets.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team took on Finger Lakes CC on Tuesday night. The exciting back-and-forth match featured four sets, with the Wildcats taking home the match with a 3-1 victory. The last set proved to be the most exciting, in which the Wildcats took the set 25-23. ]

HOW IT HAPPENED:

In the first set, the Wildcats were led by an outstanding service streak from Brendan Palmer, who led the Wildcats to an impressive 8 straight points either by aces or by setting his team up for points. The Wildcats used that momentum to win the first set 25-17.

The Lakers showed toughness in the second set, answering with 3 runs of their own to take control of the set, and even that match at 1-1. The Lakers took the second set 25-15.

In the third set, the Wildcats would clean up mistakes that cost them in the second set, and once again take control of the game to win the set 25-19. Peter Gottler and Joshua Slater both had strong sets, helping take control of the offense and put the team in a position to win points.

In the exciting final set, the Lakers controlled the majority of the set until the Wildcats went on a run right at the end of the set. The Wildcats won 6 of the final 8 points to hang onto the victory and avoid going into the 5th set.

Nate Jennings and Peter Gottler led the Wildcats in kills, while setter Joshua Slater led the way with 33 assists.
