MVB: Wildcats Win First Match of the Season Against Russell Sage 3-0.

ALBANY, N.Y. -  The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team picked up their first win on Wednesday evening against Russel Sage, winning in straight sets 3-0. With the win, the Wildcats move to 1-4 on the season. It was the first career win for Wildcats Head Coach Daniel Short.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Although they won the match in straight sets, all three sets were exciting on Wednesday night between the two teams. After being down early in the first set, the Wildcats rallied and went on a run to win the first set 25-18. The confidence from winning the first set carried over to the second set, as the Wildcats raced out to an early lead and never looked back, winning the set 25-22. In the final set, it was neck and neck right until the end with the Gators looking to go to a fourth set, but the Wildcats were able to pull away and go on a 5-0 run to win their first match of the year.

The second and third sets would have similar themes in that Utica had a large run in each set, and SUNY Poly would be unable to close the gap. Utica would take the second set 25-12, and the third set 25-9.
