SUNYIT Men's Volleyball Defeated 3-1 at New Paltz.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNYIT men's Volleyball team traveled to SUNY New Paltz on Wednesday for a single match. The Wildcats were quickly defeated in the first set 25-7, but were then able to overcome the harsh defeat to take the second set 25-23 from the Hawks. The Wildcats lost the final 2 sets 25-13 and 25-14  to lose the match by a final of 3-1.

For the Wildcats Jeff Knapp (Hamlin, N.Y. / Brockport) had a team high 13 aces and also recorded 5 digs and 3 block assists. Sophomore Evan Smith (Saugerties, N.Y. / Saugerties) led SUNYIT in kills with 8, and had 2 Solo Blocks.

New Paltz clearly overpowered the SUNYIT squad as they led nearly ever statistical category.  Christian Smith of New Paltz held the match high for aces with 24 and Tim Ferriter had the most kills in the match with 14.

The Loss brings the Wildcats record to 3-9 (1-6 conference). The SUNYIT Wildcats will continue their season next weekend at the Wells College Tournament. Their first match is against Wells at 4:00 pm on Friday February 22nd.
