Wildcat Bats go Dormant in Loss to Penn St.- Abington

JENKINTOWN, PA.- The SUNYIT Baseball team (13-13, 8-5 NEAC) was unable to keep their hot bats alive as they fell to Penn St.-Abington (12-17-1, 5-7 NEAC) 9-1 Friday.

The Wildcats were only able to record 6 hits in the game as Abington pitcher Diego Melendez threw a complete game, striking out 7.

The lone Wildcat run came in the 3rd inning as a Ryan Wegner (Rochester, N.Y./ Brockport) double drove home catcher Anthony Ragosta (Troy, N.Y./ Troy). Ragosta and Wegner both recorded two hits on the game to lead the Wildcats in the loss.

The Nittany Lions were led by Ted Smallwood who went 2-4 in the game scoring two of the Abington runs as well as Callan Palmer who went 2-3 and recorded 4 RBI.

The Wildcats will look to rebound Saturday as they visit Penn St.-Berks for a 1:00 pm doubleheader.
