WVB: Wildcats Compete at Bard College Tri-Match.

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team competed at the Bard College tri-match on Saturday. The Wildcats faced some solid competition in their first match against Bard College, putting up a good effort but ultimately falling 3-1. In the second match of the day, the Wildcats took on RIT, where RIT's powerful offensive display resulted in a 3-0 victory. The Wildcats are now 2-12 this season.

 

MATCH #1

SUNY Poly – 1

Bard – 3

[25-17, 25-13, 25-10, 25-19]

 

The Wildcats opened the match strong by taking the first set with an impressive 25-17 score. However, Bard College responded in the second set, taking the set with a score of 25-13. Bard continued their momentum into the third set, winning 25-10. In the fourth set, Bard College secured the match victory with a final score of 25-19.

 

Despite the loss, SUNY Poly showcased several standout performances. Brennah Durfee recorded six kills and nine digs, while Meghan Peek tallied an impressive 21 digs. Ryan Fitzgerald contributed three kills, eight digs, and three aces. Samantha Dee had three kills, two aces, and nine digs, and Kierra Connor added two kills and a block solo.

 

For Bard College, Nyla Lawrence led the way with 14 kills, while Ryan Lum contributed eight kills and 14 digs. Adi David played a pivotal role with 33 assists and four aces. Emily Hall Smith and LaeAnna Riley each contributed six kills for the winning team.

 

MATCH #2

SUNY Poly – 0

RIT – 3

[14-12, 12-25, 12-25]

 

RIT displayed their offensive strength, winning the match in straight sets. They hit a solid .242 as a team with 12 service aces. RIT was led by Macie Jolliffe, who delivered an impressive 12 kills. Sydney Neff orchestrated the offense with 27 assists and contributed ten digs. Cat Vento and Jacqueline Witteman each had three kills for RIT.

 

Samantha Dee led SUNY Poly with six kills and three digs. She was the only player that had a positive hitting percentage for the Wildcats. Ryan Fitzgerald contributed three kills and two digs. Meghan Peek had 11 digs and added two assists. Kierra Connor chipped in with a kill and a block assist, while Grace Southwick recorded eight digs and seven assists. Brennah Durfee also contributed with three kills and nine digs.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday, October 6th when they will host their first North Atlantic Conference match of the season. The Wildcats will face the SUNY Canton at the Wildcat Field House 7:00 PM.
