WVB: Poly Drops Non-Conference Match to Alfred State in Straight Sets.

UTICA, N.Y. -  In a home match at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field House, the SUNY Poly women's volleyball team faced Alfred State and came up short, falling to the Pioneers in straight sets, with Alfred State securing a 3-0 victory. The Wildcats now hold a season record of 2-10.

 

The first set saw a closely contested battle, with both teams showing determination, but Alfred State managed to secure the win with a score of 25-23. The Pioneers continued their strong play in the second set, defeating SUNY Poly with a score of 25-13. In the final set, Alfred State maintained their momentum, finishing with a score of 25-20.

 

Despite the loss, several SUNY Poly players made notable contributions. Ryan Fitzgerald led the team with four kills and two aces. Kierra Connor recorded four kills. Grace Southwick provided nine assists and three kills. Brennah Durfee had three kills and nine digs. Samantha Dee had a pair of aces and nine digs. Meghan Peek led the Wildcats with 15 digs.

 

For Alfred State, Racquel Gerstenberger led the way with 11 kills and four aces. Nayomie Ferrer Santiago played a crucial role with 30 assists and seven aces, while Erin Gregoire had seven kills.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will travel to Annandale-on-Hudson, NY on Saturday to take part in a tri-match at Bard College. Poly will take on the host, Bard, at 2:00 PM and will face RIT at 4:00 PM.
