WVB: Wildcats Drop Season Opener to SUNY Potsdam.

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - In their season opener on the road, the SUNY Poly women's volleyball team couldn't secure a victory, falling to Potsdam in three sets. Potsdam hit well as a team in the match with a .369 percentage and had 13 aces to secure the win.

 

SUNY Potsdam won their first game of the season with a strong performance, winning each set convincingly with scores of 25-11, 25-8, and 25-9, giving them a 1-0 record.

 

Kendall Jones led the offensive charge for Potsdam with five kills, and Emily Prest was right behind her with eight kills. Alyssa Adams contributed significantly with nine kills and Lexi Price had two kills. Sophia Layer's impressive 14 assists and Rachel Madore's eight assists ensured that the Potsdam offense flowed smoothly.

 

Defensively, Morgan Buckley showcased her skills with an impressive 18 digs, while Emily Prest had six digs. The Potsdam team demonstrated their prowess at the net with 13 total blocks.

 

On the other side, SUNY Poly struggled to gain momentum, with their offense facing difficulties throughout the match. Brennah Durfee led their scoring efforts with four kills, and Brooke Durfee had two kills. Ryan Fitzgerald provided eight assists for the team. Defensively, Brennah Durfee led the way with nine digs, while Grace Southwick and Meghan Peek each had seven and six digs respectively.

The Wildcats will take on the Plattsburgh State Cardinals and the Sage College Gators on Saturday afternoon at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. The games will both be played at SUNY Plattsburgh.
