WVB: Wildcats Beaten On the Road 3-1 by Morrisville State.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team lost to Morrisville on Wednesday night 3-1 in non-conference play. The Wildcats lost the first, second, and fourth set, but won the third set 25-20. SUNY Poly is now 0-3 this season.

 

The Morrisville Mustangs were dominant in the first and second sets, winning 25-12 and 25-8 respectively. The Wildcats struggled to get their offense going in the first two sets, hitting negative in both while recording just three kills total.

 

SUNY Poly turned it around offensively and found a rhythm in the third set. They won the set 25-20, their first set win of the season. They had 10 kills and hit .194 as a team in the third set.

 

Morrisville closed out the match in the fourth with a 25-11 win.

 

NOTABLE STATS:

  • Molly Burdick had a career-high five solo blocks and one block assist in the match. The five solo blocks were a match-high.
  • Emma Draper led the Wildcats with seven kills on 21 swings. She also had four digs.
  • Meghan Peek had a team-high 15 digs in the match.
  • Morrisville's Emily Huppee had a match-high 13 kills and five service aces.
  • Kayci Olson had seven kills for the Mustangs.
  • Kayla Sheasby had a match-high 17 digs for Morrisville.
  • Hannah Taylor had a match-high 16 assists for the Mustangs.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will head to Plattsburgh this weekend for three matches. On Friday night the team will take on NVU Johnson at 7:00 PM. The Wildcats will then take on Host Plattsburgh St. on Saturday at 11:00 AM and Elmira College on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
