WVB: Wildcats Split in NAC Tri-Match With Cazenovia and SUNY Canton.

CANTON, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team went 1-1 in their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tri-match this weekend earning a three-set win over Cazenovia in their first match of the day and losing 1-3 in their match with host SUNY Canton. The Wildcats are 1-1 in conference play with a 2-7 overall record.

 

MATCH 1 - CAZENOVIA:

SUNY Poly and Cazenovia battled hard in the first set of the day. The Wildcats were ahead late but took care of business to take the first set 26-24. The next two sets would be smooth sailing for the Wildcats as they closed out the match with two wins, 25-20 and 25-14. 

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Emma Draper and Sabrina Trimblett each had six kills in the match for the Widlcats. Draper also had a block assist. Trimblett had a pair of service aces.

  • Kaley Pichura and Ryan Fitzgerald each had five kills. Pichura also had 14 assists, four service aces, and four digs. Fitzgerald had 11 assists, a service ace, and 10 digs.

  • Michaela Bradshaw had a team-high 12 digs for the Wildcats. 

  • Sydney Pelman had four aces and eight digs. 

  • Emma Horsch had a match-high seven kills for Cazenovia. 

  • Kimberly Rodriguez had a team high 12 digs for Cazenovia. 

  • Cazenovia's Karissa Decosse had a team-high four service aces. 


MATCH 2 - SUNY CANTON: 

The Wildcats lost the second match of the day to SUNY Canton in four sets; 20-25, 25-19, 20-25, 26-28. The difference in the match was small with Canton held a holding a slight edge on the attack and on service. The Roos had three more service aces in the match and hit .030 points higher. 

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Emma Draper was the game leader with 10 kills. She hit .147 with 32 attempts. Draper also had three block assists. 

  • Sydney Pellman had a game-high 26 digs for the Wildcats, a career-high for the junior. 

  • Kaley Pichura had a match-high 24 assists, three kills, a pair of service aces, seven digs, and a block assist. 

  • Sabrina Trimblett had seven kills for the Wildcats with two digs and a block assist.

  • Ryan Fitzgerald had four kills, three service aces, eight digs, and a block assist.

  • Alyssa Adams had a team high nine kills for the Roos. 

  • Nicole O'Connor had a team high 21 digs for Canton. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Wildcats will travel to Hilbert College for a mid-week non-conference game against the Hawks. The game is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
