WVB: Wildcats Drop Season Opener to Morrisville St. in Four Sets.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's volleyball team lost to Morrisville St. on Wednesday in four sets 26-24, 18-25, 18-24, 13-25. The Wildcats came out of the gate hot, hitting .318 en route to a set one win. The team hitting percentage fell significantly down the stretch. The Wildcats hit just .058 in the match while Morrisville hit .246. 

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Kaley Pichura had five kills, 13 assists, a team-high three service aces, and five digs. 

  • Ryan Fitzgerald had a team-high six kills, two service aces, and two digs. 

  • Sydney Pellman hit a team-high .231 with four kills on 13 swings. She also had a team-high 9 digs. 

  • Morrisville's Brianna Gates had a match-high 19 kills on 33 swings. She hit .273 in the match. Gates also recorded a pair of block assists and three digs. 

  • Hannah Taylor had 47 assists for the Mustangs. She also had four service aces and four digs. 

  • Kirsten Florio, Emily Huppee, and Kayci Olsen all had double-digit kill totals for Morrisville. Florio had 12, Huppee had 10, and Olsen had 11. 

  • Anna Salamino had a match-high 14 digs as the Morrisville libero. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Wildcats will host a tri-match on Saturday, September 2nd with Utica and Plattsburgh. The matches will be at 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM. The Wildcats will play Utica at 12:00 PM and Plattsburgh at 4:00 PM. All of the matches will be streamed live on SPSN.
