MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly Women's Volleyball team traveled to Morrisville State for four non-conference matches this weekend. On Friday, the Wildcats opened the season with a match against Geneva, followed by a match against Cedar Crest. The Wildcats then took on Simmons and Penn St.-Behrend on Saturday.

MATCH 1:

The Wildcats began their season against Geneva College. SUNY Poly competed against a very strong Geneva team, but the Golden Tornadoes proved to be too much for the Wildcats. Geneva won in straight sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-15). Makayla Hulett (Colonie, N.Y) led SUNY Poly with six kills while adding 15 digs and a block assist. Brooke Taverne (Westmoreland, N.Y.) had four kills and Kaley Pichura (Syracuse, N.Y.) led SUNY Poly with 16 assists in the match. Daphne Hunsinger led the way for Geneva with eight kills and 26 assists.

MATCH 2:

SUNY Poly faced Cedar Crest College in their second match of the Morrisville Tournament. Cedar Crest won the match in four sets (25-19, 21-25, 25-14, 25-17). Karlie King (Liverpool, N.Y.) totaled nine kills and 13 digs with a kill percentage of .333. Brittany Adams (Clifton Park, N.Y.) added eight kills and a service ace for SUNY Poly. Kaley Pichura led the Wildcats with 28 assists.

MATCH 3:

The Wildcats faced Simmons College in their first match on Day Two. Simmons went on to win the match in four sets (25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16). Shannon McIntyre (New Berlin, N.Y.) set a new career-high with 34 digs. Karlie King had 12 kills and Kaley Pichura totaled 29 assists in the match.

MATCH 4:

In the final match of the weekend, the Wildcats faced Penn St.-Behrend. The Lions won the match in straight sets (25-21, 25-23, 25-21). SUNY Poly was led by Makayla Hulett and her six kills. Karlie King, Brooke Taverne, and Brittany Adams totaled four kills apiece. King also added 10 digs while. Shannon McIntyre led the Wildcats with 16 digs.

UP NEXT:

SUNY Poly will travel to Rochester on Friday, September 6th and will play four Non-Conference matches over a two-day span. The first match will be at 4:00 pm against St. John Fisher followed by a match at 6:00 pm against SUNY Canton. The Wildcats will face off against RIT on Saturday, September 7th at 11:00 am. In the final match of the weekend, SUNY Poly will face Medaille at 1:00 pm.
