OSWEGO, NY – The SUNYIT women's volleyball team went a perfect 4-0 to win the six-team Oswego State Tournament, which was held on Friday and Saturday.  The Lady Wildcats are now 13-7 overall.

SUNYIT junior Juleah Vedder (Dolgeville, NY/Dolgeville) was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after registering totals of 66 kills, 39 digs, six serve aces and four blocks, while senior Nicole Higgins (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) joined her on the All-Tournament Team after tallying 103 assists, 25 digs, 15 serve aces, 13 kills and four blocks.  Rounding out the rest of the All-Tournament Team was Medaille's Meghan Fahy, Oswego's Katie van Kessel, D'Youville's Luciana Payne, Morrisville's Sarah Keyser and Utica's Alicia Andrianos.

The Wildcats opened with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-18) victory over former NEAC rival D'Youville College Friday.  Vedder had match highs of 11 kills and five serve aces, while Higgins set a match-high 21 assists.  Freshman Taviot Jackowski (LaFayette, NY/LaFayette) registered a match-high 14 digs, while fellow classmate Kaitlyn Harrington (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) finished with 10 digs, seven kills and three serve aces.

SUNYIT then went on to defeat Utica 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-15) to close out Friday's action.  Vedder slammed home 20 kills, Higgins had match highs of 24 assists and four serve aces and Harrington had a match-best 16 digs to go along with seven kills and three serve aces.

The Wildcats took down host Oswego 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-17, 25-21) on Saturday to advance to the championship against Medaille College later that day.  Vedder registered a double-double with 22 kills and 12 digs, while Higgins tallied a match highs of 36 assists and six serve aces to go along with seven kills and four digs.  Harrington had 13 kills and 11 digs, Jackowski had 13 digs and junior Kourtni Pratt (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) finished with a team-high 15 digs.

The Wildcats then completed the sweep of their weekend competition with a 3-0 (25-23, 29-27, 25-18) victory over Medaille to win the tournament.  Vedder cemented her MVP award with match highs of 16 kills and 17 digs, while Higgins had 22 assists, nine digs and four kills.  Harrington had a match-high four serve aces to go along with nine kills and six digs

The Wildcats will be back in action on Tuesday, October 12 when they travel to take on local rival Hamilton College at 7:00 pm.
