MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Poly women's soccer team fell to the Bison of Gallaudet University 2-1 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game. The Wildcats took an early lead in the game, but allowed two goals in the second half allowing the Bison to earn the win, improving to 5-6 (3-4 NEAC) this season. The loss for the Wildcats brings their season record to 1-9-1.
TURNING POINT:
Trailing 1-0 in the second half, the Bison were awarded a penalty kick after a handball was called on SUNY Poly in the box. Gallaudet's Sabrina Hernandez took the PK, beating the goalkeeper to the top right corner.
The Bison would score again, just seven minutes later to take the lead. The goal was scored by Sabina Shysh who was fed a beautiful through ball by Hanna Neild. Shysh made a great move to beat a charging goalie, giving her an open net shot for the game winner.
NOTABLES:
- SUNY Poly's Shannon Harrison (Holland Patent) scored her first goal of the 2018 season in the 35th minute. She now has three points in eight appearances.
- Alysia Thomas (Greenville, N.Y.) made eight saves in goal for the Wildcats. She is now 1-5-1 this season.
- Nakeya Stedman (Sauquoit, N.Y.) took a game high seven shots, putting two shots on goal.
- Gallaudet's Sabrina Hernandez scored her second goal of the season in the game. She took two shots.
- Silvya Levesque earned the win in goal for the Bison. She made seven saves.

The Wildcats will travel to Albany, N.Y. to take on the Sage Gators in a non-conference game. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start on Tuesday, October 9th.
