Women's Soccer Cruises Past NEAC Rival Morrisville State

MORRISVILLE, NY – The SUNYIT women's soccer team got four goals from four different Lady Wildcats to cruise past NEAC rival Morrisville State 4-0 Saturday.  SUNYIT remained undefeated in conference play at 3-0 and are now 5-2 overall, while Morrisville fell to 0-2 in the NEAC and 1-4 overall.

 

The Wildcats scored three goals in the first half, with sophomore Amanda Myers (Boonville, NY/Boonville), junior Nicole DiNitto (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) and freshman Kristina Strang (Rotterdam, NY/Schalmont) all finding the back of the net.  Freshman Abbey Hanehan (Stillwater, NY/Stillwater) would add a goal in the second half for the Wildcats, who outshot Morrisville 26-2 in the contest.  DiNitto, senior Jane Burroughs (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) and sophomore Mirsada Velic (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor) each had an assist on the day.

 

Cheyanna Waters had 12 saves and allowed three goals in 73 minutes of action for Morrisville, while Sara Boudah had a save and allowed one goal in 17 minutes of work.

 

The Wildcats will be back in action this weekend when they travel to the state of Pennsylvania for a pair of NEAC contests.  They will first take on Penn State Abington on Saturday at 12:00 pm before squaring off against Penn State Berks on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
