AURORA, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Lacrosse Team (3-8, 2-3 NEAC) gave themselves a chance late in the game at Wells (6-5, 4-2 NEAC) on Saturday. With 14 seconds left the Wildcats took advantage of a prior turnover by the Express, taking it into Wells' territory and forcing a free position attempt. Unfortunately for SUNYIT, the shot was blocked by a Wells defender, giving the Express an 11-10 victory.
Both teams would be held scoreless for an over 15-minute stretch in the second half until Taviot Jackowski (LaFayette, N.Y. / LaFayette High School) scored SUNYIT's final goal at the 1:14 mark, bringing the Wildcats to within one at 11-10.
Leading the Wildcats on the day was Laura Tolbert (Cicero, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse) with 4 goals, while fellow former Northstar Amanda Bohne (Clay, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse) added 3 goals, an assist, and a team-best 2 caused turnovers.
The Wildcats will look to rebound tomorrow with another league game at Keuka. Game time is slated for 1:00 pm.
