After Great First Half, Lady Wildcats Fall to Morrisville 15-7

MARCY, N.Y. – It was certainly a tale of two halves on Wednesday, as a 5-5 game gave way to a 15-7 Morrisville victory in the second half. SUNYIT (3-7, 2-2 NEAC) was neck-and-neck with the NEAC-leading Mustangs for the first 30 minutes, but was outscored 10-2 in the second half in earning the loss.

The key for the  Wildcats in the first half was their ability to convert on free position attempts. Three of SUNYIT's five goals came on such shots, as Amanda Bohne (Clay, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse) netted one and Laura Tolbert (Cicero, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse) netted two.

For the Mustangs, though, it was practically a two-person attack consisting of sophomore Shelby Wood and senior Jessica Young. The two combined for 9 of Morrisville's 15 goals on the day, and seemed to find each other for good looks at the net time and time again, as Young finished with 5 assists, all of which went to Wood for goals.

For the game Wood finished with 6 goals while Young led Morrisville with 5 assists, and Tolbert led SUNYIT with 3 goals while Bohne added 2.

The Wildcats will now leave for a two-game road stint, starting with a Saturday matchup at Wells. Game time is set for 11:00 am.
