WBB: Wildcats Earn a Convincing Win Over Morrisville State at Home.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team improved their season record to 7-7 on Saturday with a big win over Morrisville 80-54. The Wildcats came out of the gate hot, scoring 10 unanswered points in the first four minutes of the game. The Wildcats would build their lead to a high point of 26 points in the fourth quarter en route to their fifth consecutive conference win.

 

NOTABLES:

  • The Wildcats shot a solid 50.8% from the field in the game and held the Mustangs to 31%.
  • The Wildcats held a 22 rebound edge in the game and had 17 offensive rebounds.
  • SUNY Poly had a season-high 21 assists as a team in the game, surpassing their prior season-high of 18.
  • Molly Burdick (Johnson City, N.Y.) led the way for the Wildcats. She scored a game-high 27 points and had a game-high 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Burdick also had a season-high six steals and three assists in the win.
  • Kiersten Leos (North Bay, N.Y.) continued her recent hot streak with a 22 point five-assist performance. Leos hit a season-high five three-pointers and shot 71% from three-point range.
  • Jaida Washington (Elmira, N.Y.) had 14 points, seven rebounds, two blocks, and a steal for the Wildcats.
  • Rachel Vieira had a team-high 17 points for Morrisville. She also had two assists and three steals.
  • Alexis Campbell scored 11 points and had two steals for the Mustangs.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will hit the road for another NEAC North Division matchup with the Cobleskill Fighting Tigers on Wednesday, January 22nd. The Fighting Tigers are 8-6 this season with a 3-2 NEAC record. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM tip-off.
