WBB: Pair of Double-Doubles Powers Wildcats to First NEAC Win.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team got off to a good start in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play with a convincing win over Penn State Berks. After getting off to a slow start the Wildcats gained control ending the first quarter up by five. In the second they would start to get some separation going into the break leading 39-25. Berks would come out of the half hot to fight their way back into the game cutting the Wildcat lead to seven. Then the Wildcats would make one final push, controlling the fourth quarter and winning the game by a final score of 69-50.

 

NOTABLES:

  • The Wildcats had two players with double-doubles. Molly Burdick (Johnson City, N.Y.) and Jaida Washington (Elmira, N.Y.). Burdick had a game-high 20 points and a game-high 20 rebounds while adding an assist and two steals. Jadia had 15 points and a season-high 12 blocks. She also tallied nine boards, an assist, and three steals.
  • Kiersten Leos (North Bay, N.Y.) had a season-high 10 points while adding three rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
  • Katie Armstrong led the charge for the Nittany Lions scoring a team-high 11 points. She also added eight rebounds, an assist, and three steals.
  • Nicole Kopcik had a double-double of her own scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and a pair of steals.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will be back in action on the road at Cortland State Saturday, December 14th. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 PM tip-off against the Red Dragons.
