WBB: Lauren Knowles Scores her 1000th Career Point in Wildcats Win Over Bryn Athyn.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball team continued their winning streak on Sunday with a 10 point win over Bryn Athyn 80-70. The Wildcats took the lead late in the second quarter on some clutch shooting, however the defense was the story of the game as they forced 21 turnovers, recording 12 steals, and swatting down six shots in the game. The game turned out to be a momentous occasion for one of its seniors as she became the second Wildcat this season to join the 1000 career point club.

Lauren Knowles (Salisbury Mills, N.Y. / Washingtonville HS) not only led the Wildcats to their NEAC best 13th straight win, but also notched a great individual achievement, scoring her 1000th career point with 4:23 remaining in the fourth quarter. She finished the day with her ninth double-double of the season. Her stat line was 22 points, 13 rebounds, six steals, three blocks, and two assists.

Geena Gallo (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa HS) also recorded a double-double in the game. She scores 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Geena also added 2 steals and a block to the Wildcats defensive effort.

Stevie Ray (Syracuse, N.Y. / Fabius-Pompey HS) rounded out the scoring trifecta with 21 points. She hit five three pointers on eight attempts including a deep buzzer beater at the half that she shot from about 30 feet out. Stevie had four rebounds, two steals, and an assist to go along with her scoring effort.

For the Lions, Kristina Clark led all scorers with 23 points, shooting 50% from the floor and hitting all nine free throws she attempted. She also grabbed 13 rebounds for the double-double.

With the win, the Wildcats extend their winning streak to 12 straight and improve their conference record to 13-0. The Wildcats will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Cazenovia at 7:00 PM. Prior to the game, there will be a short ceremony honoring seniors Geena Gallo, Emily Alicea (Mohegan Lake, N.Y. / Lakeland HS), Lauren Knowles, Erika Charbonneau (Boonville, N.Y. / Adirondack HS), and Laura Kaczmarczyk (Endicott, N.Y. / Union Endicott HS).
