WBB: Wildcats Remain Undefeated in NEAC Play With 77-67 Win Over Cazenovia.

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly women's basketball earned their eighth consecutive NEAC Conference win on Wednesday when they traveled to Cazenovia. Caz jumped out to a three point lead in the first quarter, but Poly would battle back to go into the locker room at halftime with a seven point edge. The lead would hold for the Wildcats as they finished off the game with a 10 point win 77-67.

Lauren Knowles (Salisbury Mills, N.Y. / Washingtonville HS) had a phenomenal game for the Wildcats. She dominated in the paint and on the boards to register her eighth double-double of the season. She finished with 27 points on 13-18 from the field and had 11 rebounds, six of which came on the offensive glass. Knowles also had two blocks, a steal, and an assist.

Geena Gallo (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa HS) dropped 16 points in the ten point win for SUNY Poly. She also had eight rebounds, two steals, a block, and an assist in 31 minutes of play. Emily Alicea (Mohegan Lake, N.Y. / Lakeland HS) had a nice shooting day from behind the arc. She shot 3-4 from three point land in route to an 11 point game. Alicea added six rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal to her stat line.

SUNY Poly dominated the glass in the matchup. They had a +11 rebound differential and scored 20 second chance points. The team also had more assists (13-10) and more points off turnovers (16-10). Poly shot slightly better from the field (37.7%-35.3%), but Cazenovia shot much better from three point range (42.1%-18.8%).

The Wildcats will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Cobleskill to square off with the 6-8 Fighting Tigers. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
