Women’s Basketball Breezes to 84-45 Victory Over Cazenovia

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - The SUNY Polytechnic Women's Basketball Team (14-7, 12-2 NEAC) had five different players score in double figures on its way to an 84-45 blowout over NEAC foe Cazenovia (8-13, 6-8 NEAC).

SUNY Poly put up a whopping 49 points in the first half to take a 49-22 lead and never looked pack. The offense clicked on all cylinders as the Wildcats shot 49% from the field overall and knocked down 8 of 15 from behind the arc, good for a 53% clip.

Erika Charbonneau and Barrie Brooks tied for the team-high in points with 14 each. Charbonneau did so coming off the bench, netting 7 for 11 in just 16 minutes of work. The junior also snagged 6 rebounds.

Molly MacLachlan and Geena Gallo each added 13 points on a relatively light night for the duo (neither player played more than 30 minutes as the Wildcat starters were able to rest somewhat in the second half).

The final player in double-figures for the Wildcats was guard Tierney McGlynn, who had 11 points to go along with 2 assists and 3 steals.

As a team the Wildcats snared 18 steals, forcing 28 turnovers on a woeful offensive night for Cazenovia. As opposed to SUNY Poly, which saw 5 players attain double-figures, the home team was unable to get a single player to that mark.

The Wildcats will now prepare for a four game home stand to end the regular season. They kick things off with an important game against the NEAC South Division-leading Lancaster Bible College Chargers. The game is slated for this Friday the 13th, 5:00 pm at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
