Eleven Wildcats Score in Women’s Basketball Rout of Wilson, 79-36

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The SUNY Poly Women's Basketball Team (6-5, 4-0 NEAC) recorded its third-straight victory on Saturday, cruising to a conference road win 79-36 over the Wilson College Phoenix (1-8, 0-6 NEAC).

The blowout victory allowed several Wildcat reserves to get in on the action and the players took advantage. Coming off the bench to tie for the Wildcat lead in points was rookie guard Jillian Hughes (Brookfield, N.Y. / Brookfield). Hughes recorded 12 points in 19 minutes of work off the bench, knocking down 4 of 11 from the field.

Junior Erika Charbonneau (Boonville, N.Y. / Adirondack) was right behind Hughes, netting 11 points on 5-7 shooting. Bethany Karl (Sidney, N.Y. / Sidney) led the team with 11 rebounds, and recent addition Barrie Brooks (Utica, N.Y. / Utica-Proctor) scored 9 points in just 9 minutes of play.

While the team's depth was certainly on display, starter Molly MacLachlan (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) also left a mark. MacLachlan tied for the team lead with 12 points, extending her streak of games with at least double-digit points to seven. MacLachlan made 5 of 8 from the field including going 2 for 4 from long range, all while getting a healthy rest along with the rest of the team's starters (she played only 11 minutes in the contest).

After the game the Wildcats will head down to the nation's capital to prepare for a Sunday pairing with Gallaudet University. SUNY Poly will look to keep their perfect NEAC record unblemished with a 1:00 pm start time.
