Women’s Basketball to Take on NEAC Rivals Wells and Keuka This Weekend [PREVIEW]

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Polytechnic Women's Basketball Team will head to the Finger Lakes region this weekend for matchups with the Wells College Express and the Keuka Wolfpack. Historically, the Wildcats have enjoyed supremacy over the former team, although the Express have come on in recent years with some competitive games against the Wildcats, including a shocking upset in the 2012-13 NEAC Tournament.

As for the Wolfpack, a change in mascot from inclement weather (Keuka's previous nickname was "the Storm") to an endangered woodland predator isn't likely to affect what has become one of the NEAC's best rivalries over the years. In the last three seasons alone, 5 of the two team's 7 contests have been decided by 4 points or less, with two of those games going to overtime.

Wells College is currently 1-2 on the season, having most recently lost to Morrisville State on December 3rd, 84-55.

The Express are looking for an identity after the departure of two-time defending NEAC Player of the Year Ashley Roser, who graduated last spring.

The Wildcats fell to Hamilton College in a non-conference tilt most recently, 58-43. The good news for the 'Cats is that game was back on November 29th, and the team has had plenty of rest to prepare for the always-important first conference weekend.
