Wildcats Roll in 90-40 Victory over Morrisville

MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Women's Basketball Team (14-6, 11-1 NEAC) took control early on Wednesday night, jumping out to a 30-5 lead in the first 10 minutes of their 90-40 victory over the Morrisville State Mustangs (5-16, 2-10 NEAC).

All ten active SUNYIT players recorded points on the game, with five players scoring in double-figures.

Geena Gallo (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) recorded the best offensive night of her young two-year career at SUNYIT, scoring 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Gallo drove the lane for SUNYIT's first bucket of the game, then followed it up with a 15-foot jumper. The sophomore guard also pulled down 6 boards on the night.

The Wildcat attack featured a pair of double-doubles – senior Abbey Hanehan (Stillwater, N.Y. / Stillwater) scored 10 points while grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. The senior did a nice job of distributing the ball as well, leading all players with 6 assists.

The other double-double belonged to Deasia Goodson (Freeport, N.Y. / Freeport). Goodson's 11 points and 10 rebounds marked her 4th double-double of the season; so far every time the sophomore has scored 10 points or more, she has also registered a double-double in the game.

In a week where the Wildcats are slated to play 4 games in a span of 7 days, several players contributed crucial minutes off the bench. Leading the way was Erika Charbonneau (Boonville, N.Y. / Adirondack). The six-foot forward chipped in 10 points in 16 minutes, and making all four of her free throw attempts to help lead SUNYIT to a stellar 18-for-20 night from the charity stripe as a team. Charbonneau was joined by Jennifer Bullock (Bronx, N.Y. / NYC Museum), who scored 6 points in 22 minutes. The hard-working senior and team co-captain filled up the stat sheet, grabbing 6 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists as well.

The Wildcats will look to stay undefeated on their current home stand as they host SUNY Cobleskill this Friday. Game time is slated for 7 pm, to follow the men's game at 5 pm.
