Lyndsey Brognano wins NEAC Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - Lyndsey Brognano (Rome, N.Y. / Rome Free Academy) has been selected the NEAC Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week after an outstanding week for the SUNY Institute of Technology Wildcats. Brognano, a senior guard helped the Wildcats secure three conference victories this past week, averaging 20.7 points, 7.7 assists, 6.7 rebounds and 2 steals per game. In the Wildcat's 75-41 win over Morrisville State College Wednesday, Brognano scored a season-high 28 points along with 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. She kept her hot streak going on Saturday with a game- and season-best 10 assists as well as 10 points and 4 rebounds in only 24 minutes of play in a win over the College of Saint Elizabeth on Saturday. She topped off the week with a game-high 24 points, while adding 7 assists and 8 rebounds Sunday, handing the Penn State Abington Nittany Lions their first conference loss of the season, with the Wildcats winning 83-66.

 

Throughout this past week Brognano shot 50 percent (20-of-40) from the field, 88 percent (15-of-17) from the free throw line and hit seven 3-pointers. She currently leads the conference in assists per game (4.7), is second in points per game (18.9) and third in 3-pointers made (27).
