Wildcats Keep Cruising on Home Court, Beat Penn State Abington 83-66

MARCY, N.Y. - After posting a remarkable 31 team assists yesterday in  a win over St. Elizabeth, the Wildcats (6-5, 4-1 NEAC) once again spread the wealth, recording 21 assists in a win over Penn St.-Abington (7-6, 5-1 NEAC).

Lyndsey Brognano (Rome, N.Y. / Rome Free Academy) dominated in all facets of the game, scoring a game-high 24 points on her typical super-efficient shooting (9 of 15 from the floor), but added 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals to her already gaudy career stats.

Brognano wasn't the only Wildcat flirting with a triple-double, however, as for the second-straight game Abbey Hanehan (Stillwater, N.Y. / Stillwater) flexed her versatility. Hanehan notched 14 points on 7 of 10 shooting while pulling down 8 rebounds and dropping another 8 dimes. At times the Wildcat offense was poetry in motion, as all but two players on the Wildcat roster registered points in the game.

The Nittany Lions for their part put four players in double-digits, including Janay Winston who led the team with 19, but the visitors simply required too many shots to do it: SUNYIT out shot the Nittany Lions 44% to 30%.

Lately the Wildcats have had too many bright spots to make mention of them all, but often unsung starter Ashley Schmidt (Camden, N.Y. / Camden) should not go without mentioning. The senior pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds in recording the game's only double-double on 14 points.

SUNYIT will look to continue their good fortune in conference with another home contest against Cazenovia. Game time is set for this Wednesday at noon.
