Wildcats Take Down Mustangs in Blowout Fashion

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Wildcats traveled to Morrisville State for game three of their NEAC Conference schedule. The final score was 75-41 in favor of the Wildcats as they jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

SUNYIT held advantages in several areas, but nowhere was it more evident than on the glass, as SUNYIT doubled Morrisville's rebounding total (57-28). The Wildcats also out-shot Morrisville from the field (45% - 29%) en-route to their 34 point win.

The Mustangs struggled to score against the tight Wildcat defense. The Morrisville freshman duo of Queen Holguin and Courtney Purcell scored the majority of their points. Holguin led the mustangs in points with 11, in steals with 5, and in rebounds with 5, and Purcell had 9 points, 3 assists and 4 rebounds.

Senior Lyndsey Brognano (Rome, NY / Rome Free Acadamy) led the way for the Wildcats with a season high 28 points. She also recorded her season high in rebounding with 8, and had a team high 3 steals. Junior Abbey Hanahan (Stillwater, NY / Stillwater H.S.) played a good game as well, adding 11 points, 4 rebounds, and a steal to her season totals.

With the road win, the Wildcats improve their record to 4-5 overall, and 2-1 in the NEAC. The Lady Wildcats will now look to extend a two-game conference winning streak this Saturday at home when they take on NEAC foe St. Elizabeth. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 pm in the SUNYIT Campus Center Gym.
