WASHINGTON, D.C. – At least somebody in D.C. was working through the weekend, as the SUNYIT Women's Basketball Team (3-5, 1-1 NEAC) rebounded from a tough loss to NEAC South rival Penn St.-Harrisburg yesterday to carry out a convincing win over the Gallaudet Bison (2-9, 0-4 NEAC) Sunday afternoon, 75-54. With the win the Wildcats improve to 1-1 in conference play, earning a solid split on their first conference weekend.

Despite the lopsided final score, the Bison played SUNYIT tight in the first half, with the Wildcats unable to get much separation from the home team until going on a run to end the half up 36-24. From there the Wildcats kept their paws on the gas, as every member of SUNYIT's roster registered a point in the win.

Kayla McNeil (Stillwater, N.Y. / Stillwater) stepped up for the Wildcats in the first half, knocking down a series of turnaround jumpers when the outcome was still in jeopardy. She finished with 12 points on 6 of 10 shooting, and a team-high 8 rebounds.

Helping to keep the Wildcats comfortably ahead in the second half with some valuable minutes were team captain Jennifer Bullock (Bronx, N.Y. / NYC Museum) and junior transfer Alison Short (Port Byron, N.Y. / Port Byron). Short knocked down a big three-pointer while Bullock went 1 for 2 from the field and hit 1 of 2 from the charity stripe as well.

SUNYIT will stay on the road this Wednesday at SUNY-Morrisville. Game time is slated for 2:00 pm.
