Wildcats a Perfect 7-0 in Conference After Victory in Lancaster

LANCASTER, P.A. – The Lady Wildcats (13-2, 7-0 NEAC) maintained their reputation as the class of the NEAC on Friday, trouncing Lancaster 73-47 at their home court. With the win, SUNYIT earned some much-desired separation from the rest of the NEAC North Division, as Keuka fell to St. Elizabeth to drop two games behind the Wildcats with a conference record of 6-2.

Despite being down 5-0 to start the game, the hot-shooting Wildcats controlled the first half, taking a 41-21 lead into the locker room. The Lady Chargers hung around early and were down just 23-18 with 6:10 to go in the period, but SUNYIT erupted with an 18-3 run to close the half.

The Chargers wouldn't get much closer in the second half, and SUNYIT extended their lead for the 26-point win.

Mimicking the men's game before them, the Lady 'Cats trotted out an equally balanced scoring effort, with the top six scorers going for 13, 12, 12, 12, 9, and 8 points. Of those outputs, point guard Kwanisha Jones (Philadelphia, N.Y. / Indian River) added 6 assists and 3 steals to her 12 points, while recording a flawless zero turnovers.

On the other side, forward Emily Lloyd led in both Charger categories with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Lancaster shot just 36% from the field, compared with 51% from the Lady Wildcats, and lost the turnover battle 18 to 7.

SUNYIT now has a week to prepare for a huge North Division match up with Keuka on Saturday, January 28. The home game is slated to begin at 3:00 pm in the Campus Center Gymnasium.
