Wildcats Win Big in Myrtle Beach, Pushing Win Streak to Seven Games.

North Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The SUNY Poly softball team picked up two wins on day 4 of the FastPitch Dreams Classic, ending both games in 5 innings. In game one, the Wildcats defeated SUNY Delhi 9-0. In the second game of the day, the Wildcats beat Mt. St. Vincent 11-2. SUNY Poly is now 7-1 on the season. 

GAME 1: 

SUNY Poly - 9 

SUNY Delhi - 0 

WP: Trinity Critelli (2-1) 

LP: Danielle Seymour (1-3)

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

An early pitching duel between Trinity Critelli and Danielle Seymour kept the score sheet clean for the first couple of innings. A few errors from the Broncos mixed with a couple of walks and a timely RBI single from Wildcat Taylor Hunter would change that in the 3rd inning. SUNY Poly plated seven runs on only one hit in the inning. A two-run single from Ava Faragon in the top of the 5th would push the score to 7-0. Critelli dominated on the mound, holding SUNY Delhi to only one hit and registering 10 strikeouts. 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

  • Trinity Critelli picked up her third win of the season. She allowed only one hit while striking out 10 batters over five innings. 

  • Ava Faragon picked up two RBIs on two hits. 

  • Jadyn Childers went 2-2 with two RBIs 

 


GAME 2: 

SUNY Poly - 11

Mt. St. Vincent - 2

 

WP: Joy Stevens (3-0)

LP: Serena Duran (0-3) 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

In game two, the Wildcats jumped to an early lead and did not look back. An RBI double from Kimberly Birmingham followed by an RBI single from Joy Stevens would give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead after the first inning. SUNY Poly would add two more over the next two innings. The Wildcats would blow the game open in the 4th, scoring six runs on six hits. Five different batters would be credited with an RBI in the inning. Joy Stevens pitched a strong game, allowing two runs on four hits in five innings. The Wildcats would win in five innings by a score of 11-2. 


NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Joy Stevens Pitched five innings only allowing two runs on four hits. She also went 3-4 at the plate tallying three RBIs. 

  • Kimberly Birmingham would also pick up 3 RBIs while going 3-4 on the day. 

  • Taylor Hunter registered an RBI after going 2-2 with a walk.
