SB: Wildcats Suffer a Tough Loss on Day One of the NAC Championship Tournament.

UTICA, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly Wildcats softball team suffered a tough loss on Sunday in their first game of the 2023 NAC Softball Championship Tournament. The 'Cats were shut out by the visiting Thomas College Terriers. The Terriers dominated from start to finish, displaying an impressive offensive performance to ultimately win 19-0.

The Terriers wasted no time, jumping to an early 6-0 lead in the first inning on three RBI singles, an RBI double, and a wild pitch. They added another five runs in the second, three runs in the third, and five runs in the fourth.

SUNY Poly struggled to find their rhythm at the plate, failing to produce any runs throughout the game. The Thomas (ME) pitchers, led by Megan Oberholzer, demonstrated excellent command, holding the Wildcats to just four hits over five innings. Oberholzer pitched a solid game, surrendering only three hits while striking out five batters.

The game ended after five innings due to the mercy rule. The win was Thomas's second of the tournament, putting them in the winner's bracket. The loss was the Wildcats' first of the tournament. They will face UMPI in the 11:00 AM elimination game on Monday.
