SB: Wildcats Win First NAC Game of the Season 6-2 Over Cobleskill.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly softball team earned their first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game of the season on Monday 6-2 over the Cobleskill Fighting Tigers. The Wildcats had a big third inning, scoring five of their six runs, and got an outstanding pitching performance to secure the win. The Wildcats are now 3-10 this season with a 1-2 record in NAC play. 

 

TURNING POINT: 

The top of the third inning was the turning point for the Wildcats. After a leadoff walk, an error by the pitcher put two Wildcats on base for Maddelyn Hoehn. Hoehn delivered in the clutch for her team, hitting a three-run bomb to left field to drive in three runs. The Wildcats would add two more in the inning on a two-RBI single by Joy Stevens to take a 5-0 lead. Trinity Critelli was great in the game. She threw a complete game, allowed just one earned run, and struck out four batters. 

 

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: 

  • Maddelyn Hoehn had a great game. She went 2-3 with a three-run home run, a single, and a sacrifice bunt. 

  • Caitlin Reilly had a pair of hits and an RBI in the game. 

  • Gabby Ellixson went 2-3 with a run scored and a stolen base. 

  • Trinity Critelli allowed five hits, an earned run, and had four strikeouts in seven innings of work. 

  • Alyssa Villielm went 2-3 for the Fighting Tigers. She also had an RBI and drew a walk. 

 

UP NEXT: 

The Wildcats will travel to Utica University on Wednesday to take on the Pioneers in a mid-week non-conference doubleheader. The games are scheduled for 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM.
