SB: Wildcats Take Two From Morrisville on the Road.

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.- The SUNY Poly softball team traveled to Morrisville on Monday for a NEAC doubleheader, that resulted in two wins for the Wildcats. In both games the 'Cats scored 11 runs on 17 hits.

Game 1:

In game one, the Wildcats scored early in the top of the 3rd inning from an RBI single by Bailey Wood (Preston Hollow, N.Y.). The Wildcats added two more runs in the top of the 6th and 7th innings to make it a 3-0 score. Kylie Chesebro (Oneida, N.Y.) was stellar on the mound for the Wildcats allowing three hits and striking out 10 batters.

Bailey Wood went 2-3 on the day with one RBI. Melissa Barber (Nassau, N.Y.) went 1-3 driving in a run off a double to ice the win for the Wildcats.

For Morrisville Allison McGuire went 1-3 on the day. Chyne Kennedy went for 7 innings on the mound. She gave up seven hits and threw three strikeouts for the Mustangs.

 

Game 2:

Game two was a little bit of a different story for both teams. The Wildcats quickly on the board at the top of the 1st inning with a RBI single to right field by Bailee Haddad (Frankfort, N.Y.) that drove in Bailey Wood. The Mustangs would strike back in bottom of the 1st to score four runs. Allyson Kowalczyk drove in two runs off an RBI single down the right field line to extend the lead to 4-1. Taylor Hines (Mechanicville, N.Y.) and Michaela Costello, (Frankfort, N.Y.) would bring life back into the Wildcats' offense to bring them within one run. Hines would again drive in another run on a SAC fly to center field to take the lead 5-4. The Mustangs would again tie the game off an RBI double down the left field line by Bailey Dillabough. The Wildcats would regain the lead in the top of the 7th and score three runs to secure the win.

Taylor Hines was on the mound for the Wildcats and earned the W. She also went 2-3 at the plate driving in three runs on the day. Coutney Morton (Whitesboro, N.Y.) also went 2-3 at the plate. Bailee Haddad went 2-4 driving in one run.

For Morrisville, Chyne Kennedy went 3-4 and Claire Newman went 2-4 driving in one run. Allison McGurie was credit with the loss, she gave up nine hits and threw one strikeout.

 

The Wildcats will play their first doubleheader at their home stadium Tuesday April 24, 2018 against Cazenovia. Game one will begin at 3:00PM with game two to follow at 5:00PM.
