GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference has announced the 2019 NEAC All-Conference Teams and Individual Award Winners for men's volleyball. The SUNY Poly Wildcats had an Individual Award Winner and Four NEAC All-Conference selections. Brian Malsan (Slingerlands, N.Y.) was named the NEAC Defensive Player of the Year and was All-Conference First Team. Piotr Kasza (Queens, N.Y.) was also voted NEAC All-Conference First Team. Max Szuba (Irondequoit, N.Y.) and Donovan Suguitan (Clifton Park, N.Y.) were both named to the NEAC All-Conference Second Team.

The excerpt from the NEAC press release below outlines the selection of Brian Malsan as the NEAC Defensive Player of the Year.

"SUNY Poly libero Brian Malsan has been named NEAC Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Year after becoming the best defensive player in Wildcats' history. The SUNY Poly graduate student begins postseason play with 244 digs, which ranks second in the NEAC. Malsan is also third in the league with 2.62 digs per set and has made just 19 receiving errors this season. He has amassed 10 or more digs in 11 contests this year, including a season-high 22 digs against Sage College on March 23.  An All-NEAC First Team selection, Malsan has also contributed 42 assists for the Wildcats and has a .333 hitting percentage through 28 matches."
