MVB: Wildcats Earn a 3-0 Win Over Wilson on Senior Day.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team took down Wilson College on Sunday 3-0 on senior day. The Wildcats hit .337 as a team in the match, had seven service aces, and 11 total blocks. Before the match the four seniors from this year's team were honored in a short ceremony. The seniors; Brian Malsan (Slingerlands, N.Y.)Max Szuba (Irondequoit, N.Y.), Ryan Gloff (Brockport, N.Y.), and Piotr Kasza (Queens, N.Y.) all had fantastic showings in their last match at SUNY Poly's Wildcat Field House.The final set scores for the match were 25-19, 25-22, 25-9. The Wildcats are now 15-11 this season and are 6-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play.

 

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT:

  • Ryan Gloff had an outstanding match for the Wildcats in his return to action. The senior had 13 kills on 23 swings for a hitting percentage of .391. Gloff also had a game-high eight digs, a game-high three service aces, and two block assists.

  • Max Szuba had 11 kills in the match on 21 swings. He also had three digs and a service ace in his last game at the Wildcat Field House.

  • Brian Malsan had four digs for the Wildcats and was outstanding on serve-receive. He did not record a single service error.

  • Piotr Kasza had 38 assists for the Wildcats. He also had five digs, one service ace, and one block assist.

 

NOTABLES:

  • Donovan Suguitan (Clifton Park, N.Y.) hit .250 with eight kills on 20 swings. He also had three digs and two block assists.

  • Garrett Hassard (Oneonta, N.Y.) had the Wildcats lone solo block, recorded five kills, and had two digs in the match.

  • Matthew Russo (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.)  led all players with four block assists in the match. He had six kills and hit .400 on 10 swings. Russo also had two service aces and four digs

  • Wilson College was lead by Aaron Hoke who had 13 kills on 37 swings. Hoke also had five digs in the match.

  • Oliver Perry had four kills for Wilson. He also had four digs.

  • Andrew Hetzer led the Phoenix with three block assists in the match.

 

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will hit the road for a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup on Friday, April 5th against Keuka College. The match between the Wolves and the Wildcats is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start. The Wildcats beat Keuka earlier this season 3-0 at home.
