MVB: Goggin Named NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week after a 164 assist week.

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference has named SUNY Poly's Zach Goggin its Men's Volleyball Student Athlete of the Week for the week of January 25-31. Below is an excerpt from the NEAC's press release announcing the award winners.

"Zach Goggin (Feeding Hills, Mass.) has been chosen as the NEAC Men's Volleyball Player of the Week after an outstanding week for the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Wildcats.  The sophomore setter led the Wildcats to a perfect 4-0 week after dishing out 164 assists and averaging nearly 11 assists per set to go along with 13 digs, nine aces, eight kills and seven blocks.  After opening the week with 30 assists, four digs and three kills in a 3-0 sweep over Sage last Wednesday, Goggin would tally 53 assists on two separate occasions over the weekend.  The first came in a thrilling 3-2 win over Penn State Behrend at the Keuka College Invitational Friday night, where he also added four aces and three kills, and he would hit that assist total again in a 3-1 victory over Regis (Mass.) Saturday to go along with six digs and three block assists during a home quad match Saturday. He also tallied 28 assists, four aces and four blocks (two solo) in a 3-0 sweep over Newbury in the day's other match en route to helping the Wildcats post a .303 hitting percentage as a team for the week.  Goggin is now the conference leader in assists (321), assists per set (10.35) and serve aces (13) for the Wildcats, who are off to a 6-2 start on the year thus far."
