MVB: Wildcats Finish Their Week 4-0 With Wins Over Newbury and Regis.

MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly Wildcats hosted a quad-match on Saturday at the Wildcat Field House. Teams in attendance were Wells, Regis, and Newbury. The Wildcats squared off with Newbury and Regis in their two matches and emerged with a win in each. The Wildcats won in three sets against Newbury (25-18, 25-15, 25-20) and in four sets against Regis (26-28, 25-17, 28-26, 25-15).

In the first match the Wildcats made quick work of Newbury in three sets. A.J. Davids (Hilton, N.Y. / Hilton HS) led the Wildcats with 16 kills on 32 attempts. He also had two digs and a service ace in the match. John Weaver (Ballston Lake, N.Y. / Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake HS), Ryan Gloff (Brockport, N.Y. / Brockport HS), and Derek Connley (Oneida, N.Y. / Oneida H.S.) each had five kills in the match. Zach Goggin (Feeding Hills, Mass. / Agawam HS) recorded 28 assists in the match and had two kills on two attempts and had four service aces. As a team the Wildcats hit .311 and recorded 11 service aces in the match.

The second match went the way of the Wildcat again, this time in four sets over Regis. Zach Goggin tied his season high for the third time this season with 53 assists. He also had six digs, three block assists, and a service ace. Dan O'Connor (Latham, N.Y. / Shaker HS) had a match high 10 digs in the match. Max Szuba (Irondequoit, N.Y. / Irondequoit HS) recorded a match high 18 kills on 32 attempts for a hitting percentage of .438. Max also had five digs, a block assist, and a service ace in the match.

With the two wins the Wildcats complete their 4-0 week bringing their season record to 6-2. The Wildcats will be back in action on Friday when they will travel to New Paltz to take on the Hawks. The game is scheduled for 6:00 PM. The game can be watched live HERE.
