MARCY, N.Y. - The SUNY Poly men's volleyball team hosted the 2016 Wildcat Invitational this past weekend. Nine teams were in attendance for the two day event. Each team played four matches on the three court setup of the Wildcat Field House. SUNY Poly went 2-2 in their four matches, winning against Bard and Elms, and losing to Vassar and Kean.

In the Wildcats first match of the weekend they squared off with Bard, earning a win in three sets 25-15, 25-14, 25-15. The team was led by A.J. Davids (Hilton, N.Y. / Hilton HS) who registered a game high 10 kills on 21 attempts. Davis also had 3 digs and a block assist in the match. Ryan Gloff (Brockport, N.Y. / Brockport HS) hit very well in the match recording eight kills for a hitting percentage of .700. Zach Goggin (Feeding Hills, Mass. / Agawam HS) had 28 assists in the match.

In match two of day one the Wildcats came up against a very good Vassar team who finished the weekend 4-0. The Wildcats fought hard in the four set loss but their efforts fell short of earning a win. The line score was 25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 25-18. A.J. Davids and Max Szuba (Irondequoit, N.Y. / Irondequoit HS) led the Wildcats in kills. A. q` l be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Sage College to take on the Gators. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
