Men’s Volleyball Clinches NEAC  Regular Season Championship

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The SUNYIT Men's Volleyball Team (18-5, 7-1 NEAC) defeated Cazenovia College in the first of two matches Saturday, clinching the NEAC Regular Season Championship with a league record of 7-1. The Wildcats will now host the NEAC Conference Championship this Saturday, April 12th at a time to be determined.

The Wildcats defeated Cazenovia 3-0 in a tri-match that included the host team, SUNYIT, and Penn St.-Behrend. The win came on the heels of clutch wins last weekend over Wells, Lancaster Bible College, and Keuka College, all of which helped put SUNYIT in the driver's seat for the conference regular season championship heading into today.

Sean Conte (Hilton, N.Y. / Hilton) led with 10 kills on 18 attempts, good for a .389 hitting percentage. Senior Timothy Maracic (Franklin Square, N.Y. / Carey) was next with 6 kills on just 7 attempts, good for an outstanding .857 hitting percentage, as the Wildcats cruised to a 25-14, 25-13, 25-14 victory.

The Wildcats' fell in their second match of the day to non-conference opponent Penn St.-Behrend, but nevertheless finish the season with a program-best record of 18-5.

SUNYIT will now host the #2-seeded team in the NEAC in Saturday's championship match, to be hosted by SUNYIT at the Wildcat Field House. Details on who the Wildcats will be playing and the time of the match will be released once they become available.
